I used the Wacom tablet to continue developing the site. I was struggling with getting too exact or perhaps, getting too controlled or tight. I really just wanted to loosen up. So I opened the plan in Photoshop and drew all over it, stream of consciousness style. I would draw on a layer, then make it less opaque, then draw on top of that. It also allowed me to make notations as I went along to keep track of ideas as they came up.
Here are a couple examples of that process.
Ideas for edges and connections developed through this process. The image of the edge of parking was of particular interest. Drawn in green in the corner.
From this I was able to work through some of the issues in the site plan.
Connections developed as I went along, in particular.
The design has evolved into a system of bridges, meandering through the cypress swamp, creating connections across the site. The columns of the overpass are the cypress. The groundplane is lowered, and it collects the runoff from the site. Along the edges, parking and paved areas protrude against the wetland, creating sharp edges.
